OVERVIEW: The USET‑80K is a Russian heavyweight, universal electric torpedo introduced in 1989 as an improved variant of the USET‑80. It is equipped with an upgraded “Keramika” acoustic seeker optimized for performance in littoral (shallow) waters.

DETAILS: USET‑80K (Universalnaya Samonavodyashchayasya Elektricheskaya Torpeda 1980‑K) retains the 533 mm diameter, 7.9 m length, ~2,000 kg weight, and electric propulsion of its predecessor but replaces the original “Vodopad” seeker with the Keramika acoustic sensor. It maintains dual-mode guidance (active/passive acoustic homing) and surface wake tracking capability, though the wake-homing function is reportedly disabled in K variant, focusing solely on improved seabed and shallow-water performance. Its performance specifications remain largely unchanged: speed up to 48 kt, range ~18 km, operating depth up to 1,000 m, and a 200–300 kg warhead with contact/magnetic fuse.
